" The Rainy Forest Explorer "


This Voluntary Program is part of the " cooperation agreement "  exists between the agency and the program ASVO of the Ministry of Environment and Energy ( MINAE ), institution of  the government of Costa Rica that administrate and protect all the  system of  National Parks and Natural Reserves of country.


This program develops in a beautiful place called Piedras Blancas National Park that is part of the " Area de Conservacion Osa " located on the South Pacific of country. This big conservation area is also formed for the Corcovado National Park.


The Park it has an extension of  8,400 hectares composed in its totality for an amazingly beautiful  " Rainy Forest ". Big areas of park are still " no explored " Virgin Jungle.

The weather of park is hot, very wet and rainy, all year around.

The diversity of flora and fauna to find around park is huge and includes beautiful scarlet macaks, mountain porks, chipmunks, pizotes and deers.


Main attractions: the huge and beautiful Rainy Forest, several waterfalls and rivers, beautiful beaches, great paths that cross  the forest and allow to have a direct contact with the wonder ecosystem. Several ruins of antique Indians civilizations that lived the area.


The park disposes of services as:


· Electricity

· Potable Water 

· Wood / Concret made installations where lodge both volunteers and staff of park in separate rooms.

The "Voluntary Work" includes buildings of new paths, maintenance of actual paths and installations, patrol in company of guards of park and attention to visitors.


The bedrooms where lodge volunteers dispose of single and twins beds, toilets and showers. Volunteers and Staff of park eat all together in the Dining Room area.


The Program requires a minimum stay of Two Weeks.


The candidate to participate in this program must to:


  1. Fill the form " Offer of Voluntary Service " that allow us to have a previous profile of him/her self.

  2. Sign the " Agreement concerning to voluntary service in a conservation area " that demand  MINAE.

  3. Respect the " Voluntary Work "  rules
