" The Jungle Protector " This Voluntary Program is part of the " cooperation agreement " exists between the agency and the program ASVO of the Ministry of Environment and Energy ( MINAE ), institution of the government of Costa Rica that administrate and protect all the system of National Parks and Natural Reserves of country. The program develops in a beautiful place called Tortuguero National Park located in the province of the Limon, north Caribbean of Costa Rica. The Park it has an extension of 26,150 land hectares and 50,160 sea hectares where is possible to find 400 different kinds of trees, 2,200 kinds of other plants, 405 different kinds of birds, 4 kinds of turtles including the Baula and the Green turtle that come year by year to lay their eggs on the park and many kinds of mammalians and reptiles. The forest is Wet Tropical predominantly with an average temperature of 26° Celsius / 79° Farenheight and a average pluvial precipitation of 5,500mm yearly, one of the highest of country. Main attractions of park: great beaches, long and navigable canals, great nature paths. The park disposes of services as: · Electricity · Potable Water · Comfortable wood-made installations for volunteers with toilets, showers and dining room. The " Voluntary Work " includes maintenance of paths and buildings, attention to visitors, patrol in company of guards of park. The volunteers lodge in a big bedroom area where boys and girls sleep separately. Volunteers and personal of park eat all together in the Dining Room area of park.
