" Whale Bay " This Voluntary Program is part of the " cooperation agreement " exists between agency and the program ASVO of the Ministry of Environment and Energy ( MINAE ), institution of government of Costa Rica that administrate and protect all system of National Parks and Natural Reserves of country. The program develops in a spectacular natural paradise called " Bahia Ballena Sea Park " located on the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. This natural sanctuary it was created with the only goal of protect and save the habitat where several sea species come to reproduce or lay its eggs. It was also created to protect one of more beautiful coral reef of Costa Rica. One of main attractions of park is the yearly visit of the Parrot Turtle who comes to lay its eggs in the beach area of park. From August to December, every year, visitors and volunteers of park are able to see an amazing natural phenomenon, unique on the world. Thousands and thousands of turtles coming to same place where they birth one day with the only goal to save its species in a amazing run for the life. The weather of area is wet and rainy during rainy season ( from May to December )and very hot and sunny for summer time. Within limits of park is possible to find a nice diversity of flora and fauna that includes birds, mammalians, reptiles and thousands of fish species in the coral reef area. Main attractions: The yearly visit of the Parrot Turtle, a fabulous coral Reef, great beaches and good waves where to sun tanning or make surfing on Time - Off. The Park disposes of facilities as: · Electricity and Public Phone · Natural Paths . Camping Area Gallery of Pictures The " Voluntary Work " includes night patrol in company of staff of park protecting turtles and its eggs of any kind of predator, moving and caring of nest of turtles, liberation of baby turtles on the sea, cleaning of beach areas, maintenance of camping areas and any other work that administration of park best consider. The Volunteers lodge in the housing of park on double room with private or share bath. The Program requires a minimum stay of Four weeks and is available for Two people as maximum The candidate to participate in this program must to:
