* Additional nights, tours, Spa services, and other activities may be added to your trip.

 

* There is a maximum weight restriction of 230 pounds per person for the Titi Canopy and the rafting tours.  And some of the transportation services have additional charges for someone who requires two seats.  Please let us know in advance how many people in your group weight 230 pounds or more, so we can schedule a different tour for those individuals and/or choose the proper vehicles for your transportation.

 

* The tours included in the itinerary are the most popular activities available in every city.  However a large array of other daytime activities, such as ATV or Segway rides, sea or lake kayaking, fly boarding, parasailing, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea or white water fishing, canyonering, bird watching, and cave spelunking, to name only a few of them, also are available.  Any of these tours can be added or exchanged for specified tours upon request.

 

* Other services such as body massages and other spa services provided in your hotel room can be added for an additional charge.  You will receive a 10% discount at the Arenal Paraiso Spa, or when using our private masseur service at Manuel Antonio beach - if you book these services through our agency.

Day 1

San Jose City

 

WELCOME TO COSTA RICA

Arrival at the San Jose International Airport where you will be met by our tour guide as you step off your plane. And you will be taken to the Hotel Best Western Irazu which is located a 10 minute ride by Van from the airport.  There you will spend your first night in Costa Rica.  Accommodations are provided in a  “Premier room” with 2 double size beds, bathroom with hot water and tub, A/C, Cable TV, coffee maker, alarm clock radio, iron with Ironing table, phone, safety box, and free wi-fi internet access.  The hotel also offers a bar, a Denny´s restaurant, an international cuisine restaurant, a Casino, a big pool, gym, and a Spa.

 

In the afternoon, you will join a guided tour to the beautiful museums and historical sites of San Jose City. This tour begins with an orientation and drive through the beautiful Sabana Park.  Next, we will make a visit to the historic National Theater. Completed in 1897, the theater is a masterpiece in art and architecture. Afterward we will visit one of the unique museums in the city.

 

We will continue to the University of Costa Rica, the Supreme Court and various other sites of interest. We will make a stop in an art and craft store allowing you time to browse and buy some souvenirs (This is a 4 hour tour. Pick Up time at the hotel: 1 pm)

 

A tour in the evening will take you out to experience the rich Gay Night Life that San Jose City has to offer. (This is a 4 hour guided tour / Pick-up time at the hotel is at 9 pm)

 

The lunch and dinner for this day is on your own at any of the many restaurants located a short walking distance from the hotel.

 

What to bring for tours: comfortable clothing and shoes, hat or cap, camera, and a light jacket or sweater.

 

 

 

Day 2

Tortuguero Canals

At 6 am, you will travel with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus, driving through Braulio Carrillo National Park, you will have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant rain forest vegetation. On the way we will stop for breakfast at a typical Costa Rican restaurant.  After breakfast the trip will continue to La Pavona harbor, passing banana plantations on the way.

At La Pavona, a covered boat will be waiting to take you to the Hotel Laguna Lodge passing the Tortuguero canals, and arriving at the lodge between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The staff will greet you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities.

 

Included in the activities after lunch is a visit to the private reserve of the hotel, and a stop in the colorful town of Tortuguero.


You will return to the lodge around 6:00 p.m. and have free time to enjoy the beach, the pool, the bar service and prepare for dinner. The Dinner (which is included in the package) is served in the hotel`s restaurant from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and the rest of the night will be at your leisure for relaxing and to enjoy the surroundings.

 

What to bring for tour: comfortable clothing and shoes, hat or cap, camera, binoculars, sun lotion and glasses.

 

 

 

 

Day 3

Arenal Volcano

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and join a guided boat tour on the Tortuguero canals where you will enjoy abundant flora, fauna and sea life, including manaties, sea turtles, many kinds of birds and reptiles, and many plants and trees, including orchids, bromelias, and huge almond trees. This tour also includes guided walks on some of the best natural trails in the Tortuguero park.

 

The tour ends at La Pavona where our bus will be waiting for a drive to the beautiful town of La Fortuna, where the impressive Arenal Volcano is located (This is a five hour ride in a minibus.  It includes a 1 hour stop at a restaurant on the route for lunch, which is included.  The arrival time in La Fortuna is about 4 pm)

 

On your arrival, you will check in at the Arenal Paraiso Resort in a comfortable “Superior Room” with two queen size beds, bathroom with hot water and a hair dryer, A/C, Cable TV, and free wi-fi internet.

 

The hotel also offers awesome views of the Volcano and  its own Hot Springs complex.  There are acres of tropical gardens, and a fully equipped massage parlor and a spa.

 

After check-in, the rest of the day is at your leisure for relaxing and make use of the hotel amenities.

 

A Buffet dinner served in the Hotel`s restaurant is included for this day.

 

 

 

 

Day 4

Arenal Volcano

After breakfast, you will enjoy a “full adrenaline” rafting trip at the Class II, III and IV rapids on the Sarapiqui River. You will have professional rafting guides; and all necessary equipment is provided.  A fresh fruit break; and a delicious lunch is included in this tour  (Pick-up time is at 8 am in the lobby of the hotel)

 

You will return to the hotel about 5 pm with the rest of the day at your leisure.

 

A Buffet dinner served in the Hotel`s restaurant is included for this night.

 

What to bring for this tour:  shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes, bath suit, sun block, and extra set of clothing, towel, a bag for the wet clothing, and camera.

 

 

 

Day 5

Manuel Antonio beach

(B, L)

 

 

 

 

 

After breakfast, you will be transported to the world famous Manuel Antonio beach, on the Costa Rican Central Pacific coast  (This is a five hour ride by shuttle.  Pick up time at the hotel is at 8:15 am)

 

You will check-in at the Hotel Villa Roca in a spacious room featuring two twin beds or one double and one twin size beds, a private bathroom with hot water, and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.

 

This hotel also offers lush tropical gardens, a clothing optional pool with Jacuzzi, and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the beaches of Manuel Antonio.

 

The dinner for this day is on your own at any of the many restaurants located a short walking distance from the hotel.

 

Note: This night our van will be available to bring you to a restaurant or a gay bar or discoteque in Manuel Antonio or Quepos and to bring you back to the hotel – you only have to request this service which is available until 1 am.

 

 

 

 

Day 6

Manuel Antonio beach

After breakfast, you will have time for rest and relaxation at the hotel, or to explore the beaches of Manuel Antonio.

 

Note: This morning our van will be available to take you to the main beach at Manuel Antonio and bring you back to the hotel.  This service is a courtesy of our agency.

 

In the afternoon, an exciting canopy tour is on the agenda.  For two hours you will travel through the trees viewing three types of monkeys, both two and three finger sloths, toucans, scarlet macaws and many other exotic species.  Titi Canopy Tour operates one of the best Canopy Tours in Costa Rica offering spectacular views of the mountains and the valley of Quepos.  There are 16 platforms on the tour with wires up to 450 meters long, a 45 foot high Rappel wall, 2 hanging bridges up to 15 meters high and 100 meters long and a Tarzan swing cable.  The tour ends with a dinner at the restaurant in the resort  (Pick-up time at Hotel Villa Roca is at 12:35 pm - Return time: about 5 pm)

 

What to bring for the tour: comfortable clothing and shoes, sun lotion and camera.

 

Back in the hotel, you will have free time to enjoy the active gay nightlife of Manuel Antonio.

 

Note: This night our van will be available to bring you to the best gay bars and discos in Manuel Antonio or Quepos and to bring you back to the hotel – you only have to request this service which is available until 1 am.

 

 

 

Day 7

Manuel Antonio beach

At 7:30 a.m., after breakfast, you will join a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. We will take you through nature trails to see the flora and fauna including monkeys, sloths and many species of birds in the impressive Rainforest. You will have leisure time to take a swim in the pristine waters or tan in the sun on the white sand beaches of the park.

 

At 1:30 p.m., after a lunch on your own, you will have fun on a Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Manuel Antonio Bay.  You may also do some snorkeling on the reefs if you like, and treat yourself to another gorgeous sunset in Manuel Antonio Bay. A buffet lunch aboard the vessel is included in this tour.

 

In the evening you will have leisure time to enjoy the hotel facilities, and/or have a night out on the town.

 

What to bring for the tours: Comfortable clothing, tennis shoes or sandals, bathing suit, towel, sun lotion, sun glasses, binoculars and camera.

 

This night our van also will be available to take you to the restaurants or gay bars in Manuel Antonio or Quepos and bring you back to the hotel – per your request.  This service is available until 1 am.

 

 

 

 

Day 8

Return Home

After breakfast, you will be transported by shuttle to the San Jose international airport for your Return Flight  (This is a 3 and half hour ride - Pick-up time at the hotel is at 8:30 am)
