Day by Day Itinerary

MEAL Letter Codes:  ( B ) Breakfast  ( L ) Lunch  ( D ) Dinner

Day 1 - Welcome to Costa Rica - Arrival to San Jose International Airport. You will be met by our Tour Guide and transported to Hotel Best Western Downtown. There you will have the rest of day at your leisure to enjoy of the Hotel pool and amenities. A tour in the evening will take you out exploring the rich Gay Night Life that San Jose City offers.

If you wish, it is possible to upgrade to a more luxurious hotel in Downtown San Jose for an additional cost.

Day 2 - tortuguero canals ( B, L, D ) After Breakfast, you will travel with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. You will be driven through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you`ll have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant rain forest vegetation. Stop for breakfast on the way at a Typical Restaurant. After breakfast the trip will continue to Caño Blanco deck driving by banana plantations on the way.

At Caño Blanco, you will board a covered  boat that will take you to hotel Laguna Lodge or Pachira Lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals, and arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge, the staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities. After lunch, a visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town is included.   

You will return to the lodge around 5:30 p.m. and have free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner is served at the Lodge from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night will be at your leisure to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar.

Day 3 - SAN JOSE CITY ( B, L ) After breakfast, we will begin the trip back to San Jose around 9:00 a.m.  The boat arrives at Caño Blanco around 11:00 a.m. Then our bus will be waiting for the drive back to San Jose. Stop en route for lunch at Selva Tropical Restaurant. Arrive at the Best Western Downtown around 3:00 p.m. with the rest of day at your leisure to enjoy the Hotel facilities.  Another guided Tour at night is provided for exploring some more of the rich gay night life of San Jose City.

Day 4 - IRAZU VOLCANO & OROSI VALLEY ( B, L ) After breakfast, we will take the South Pan American road, to start ascending the large Irazu Volcano. The winding road travels through fertile lands cultivated with all kinds of vegetables as we observe a lovely panoramic view. On the top of the volcano you can observe the main craters and on a clear day both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

As we descend to the city of Cartago we will make a stop at the Basilica of the Virgin of the Angels, a peregrination site for many believers in Costa Rica. After visiting the Basilica we will continue on to the Valley of Orosi where creation overflows in unparallel beauty. We will be able to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches and we will stop for lunch in one of the local restaurants.

At 4 pm, you will be back at Hotel Best Western Downtown with the rest of day at your leisure. Dinner is on your own.

Day 5 - ARENAL VOLCANO ( B, D ) After Breakfast, land transfer by shuttle is provided to La Fortuna town where the impressive and active Arenal Volcano is located. Check In at Hotel Arenal Paraiso. In the afternoon you may join an exciting Canopy Tour Adventure and afterward enjoy of the hot and relaxing waters of the Hot Springs Complex. The Hotel also offers great views of Volcano, acres of tropical gardens, and a fully equipped Massage Parlor and a Spa. A Buffet dinner served at Hotel`s Restaurant is included in the package. Lunch is on your own.

You can also upgrade to Hotel Abercam, a more upscale Gay hotel in La Fortuna for an additional cost. Contact us for details.

Day 6 - MONTEVERDE ( B ) After Breakfast, you will be transported by van to Lake Arenal. After crossing the lake by boat, you will go by van to downtown Monteverde and check in at the 3 star Hotel El Viandante which is just a 10 minute walk from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Hotel El Viandante is a clean and cheerful, bright and friendly place, where you will find the staff helpful and fun.

One of the unique on-site services that El Viandante offers its guests is Mountain Bike Rentals, Bike Tours and Guides for those with an adventuresome spirit.

If you wish, it is possible to upgrade to a more luxurious hotel in Monteverde for an additional cost.

In the cloud forest you will have a bilingual naturalist guide for the 3.5 Kilometer trail. The cost for the transport, and the reserve entrance fee is included in the package.

Day 7 - PLAYA MANUEL ANTONIO ( B ) After Breakfast, you will be transported by Shuttle to the world famous Manuel Antonio Beach. Check in at Hotel Casa Blanca or Hotel Villa Roca with leisure time to enjoy the hotel's facilities. Or, explore the stunning coastline of Manuel Antonio by taking a walk on its white sandy beaches, or explore it while horseback riding, take a swim or just soak up the sun while relaxing on the beach. You can take a hiking trail to view some beautiful waterfalls or just hand out with friends over drinks. In the late afternoon don't miss the beauty of watching the sunset on the horizon of the waters of Manuel Antonio Bay.

In the evening, dinner is on your own in one of the many restaurants in town and you may spend the rest of the evening exploring the rich gay nightlife of Manuel Antonio.

Day 8 - PLAYA MANUEL ANTONIO ( B ) At 7:30 a.m., after Breakfast, you will join a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. We will take you through nature trails to see the flora and fauna including monkeys, sloths and many species of birds and the impressive Rainforest. You will have leisure time to take a swim in the pristine waters or tan in the sun on the White Sand Beaches of the Park.  At 2:00 p.m., after a lunch on your own, you will have fun on a Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in the Manuel Antonio Bay. You may do some snorkelling on the reefs, and treat yourself to another gorgeous sunset of Manuel Antonio Bay. In the evening you will have leisure time to enjoy the hotel facilities, and/or go on a Night Out Tour in Town. Dinner is on your own.

Day 9 - SAN JOSE CITY ( B ) After breakfast, you may explore Manuel Antonio National Park on your own, or just enjoy of the amenities of the hotel. In the afternoon we provide land transfer by Shuttle back to San Jose City and you will check-in again at Hotel Best Western Downtown. An optional night tour to a Gay Bar or Disco may be available.

Day 10 - ( B )  After Breakfast, you will be transported to the International Airport for your Return Flight.
