Enjoy yourself for a few days in our Surfing Camp, located on the beautiful beach of Playa Hermosa, on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, with its expansive white sandy beaches and tropical rainforests that surround Playa Hermosa. This region with its stunning views hosts the most important surf contest in Latin America. Here you will find fun easy waves for beginners, as well as powerful tubular waves for the experienced surfer.

The Camp:

This camp has flourished as the premier surf school in the country for men and women of all ages. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer, we have designed an action packed vacation for you, with daily surfing lessons, accommodations at local 3 star hotels, yoga sessions, private body massage, salsa dance classes, walks to nearby waterfalls, body pump aerobics, power hikes, or a spectacular canopy tour where you can enjoy ocean views and exotic wildlife while you glide from one tree to another in the rainforest. All of this plus two meals per day in the best area restaurants is waiting for you. Surfing instructors are certified by ISA, (International Surfing Association), and also certified by the Surfing Assciation of Austrailia.

The surf lessons are 2 hours per session. They include surfboard rental, rash guard, and a snack of fruit and drinking water. Learn to surf with qualified instructors who themselves are expert surfers and trained with life saving skills. You will learn basic ocean knowledge -- how to read the waves, the tide, the swell and the wind. Learn the fundamentals such as paddling methods, how to "duck dive," and how to get to your feet. More advanced instruction is also provided for the more experienced surfer.

Instructors

Andrea Diaz, camp instructor, has been endorsed by Roxy, the world famous women's brand name in surfing equipment, as a surfing instructor for women. She was a Roxy girl when she became the first Costa Rican National Women's Champion in 1999. She also participated in the Surfing World Cup in 2000, with her team winning 9th position.

Gilbert Brown was a 2001-02 Costa Rican National Surf Champion sponsored by Quiksilver, Arnette, Adrenalina TV, DVS, Arenas Surf Shop.

Germaine "Nino" Myrie was a 2002-03 Costa Rican National Surf Champion sponsored by Volcom, etnies, Adrenalina TV, LQD.

These professionals are all either accredited by the International Surfing Association (ISA) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) with open water lifeguard, CPR, first aid, life-saving and water rescue certification, and have education in nutrition, physical education and more. They deliver some of the most comprehensive skills, rides and surf school/camps/retreats in Latin America.

A Sample Day:

We understand this is your vacation. If you would like to participate in all or none of the following activities please feel free to do so. Also, if there is something else that you would like to do during your surf adventure, just let us know and we will do our best to arrange it for you.

Note: Surfing is always at "high tide" - which changes every day. Therefore the daily schedule will change accordingly. Following is a "sample" of a daily itinerary.

7:00 - 7:30 am Coffee and croissants

7:30 - 9:30 am Surfing with instructors

9:30- 10:00 am Breakfast

10:00 - 1:00 pm Free time to make use of Hotel amenities

1:00-2:00 pm Lunch

2:30 - 5:00 pm Tour

5:00-6:30 pm (Sunset) Massage, aerobics, yoga, hiking, or dance classes. (Or advanced surfers may want to hit the waves again without an instructor )

7:00pm Dinner

Accommodations:

Your accomocations will be in one of the comfortable local 3 star hotels either at Casa Roxy Pura Vida or Ola Bonita (Beach front, Swimming pool-A/C-Safe Box-Hot water, kitchen, etc)

Casa Pura Vida is one the most select accommodations in the area, and creates an inviting atmosphere for your surf adventure. With it´s lush tropical gardens, tranquil ambience, the hotel features an outdoor "chill-out" lounge, and a large refreshing pool, all ingeniously etched into a lush Costa Rican landscape. It is located only steps away from the beach.

Casa Pura Vida accommodations include 4 two bed room apartments and 2 guest rooms:

The Apartments:

The spacious apartments feature 2 bedrooms, comfortable kitchenette, a private bathroom with hot water, room safe, and daily maid service, overlooking the ocean.

The guests' rooms:

The air-conditioned guest rooms feature one or two comfortable beds, private bathroom, room safe, and daily maid service.

Included in this Surfing Camp package:

· Airport pick-up round trip transfer is included in stays of a miniumum of 5 days and 4 nights.

· Accomodations in area 3 star hotels with daily maid service.

· Daily surfing instruction from certified instructors.

· Use of custom designed surf equipment including soft top foam surfboards and costum shaped fiber glass and epoxy surfboards in a variety of shapes and sizes. Students use Banzaii Surfboards and Banana Wax. (We can also arrange for you, to have a custom shaped surfboard just for you).

· Breakfast and dinner at popular area restaurants

· Ground transportation (no need to rent a car).

· Your choice of additional daily activities: Yoga - aerobics - salsa dance classes.

· Free time to relax pool side, or just time on your own to explore the beach.

· CD with pictures of your surf session taken by a professional surfing photographer.

· One full body one hour massage.

· Six bottles of purified water
